Many people are unaware that there are professionals who have invested a lot of time expanding their knowledge on the aging process and understanding all the resources available. These are people who have a heart for the elderly and want to do their best to make this stage of life as comfortable, safe and interesting as possible for seniors as they age.
You’ll find hundreds of these Certified Senior Advisors® making a difference for families across the country. They belong to the Society of Certified Senior Advisors® (SCSA) which has been promoting best care practices for seniors for over 20 years. These highly accomplished advisors apply their multidisciplinary expertise by helping seniors and their families understand the aging process and potential issues. They can identify the best options to enhance the quality of life while providing peace of mind for the entire family.
Each year, the SCSA holds an annual conference, and recently, over 200 CSAs gathered in Portland. They attended presentations, studied and shared information to increase their knowledge and strengthen their proficiencies for the benefit of the seniors they serve. The presenters engaged their audience with information regarding the aging population such as medical and social trends, caregiving approaches, technological developments, planning for end of life, labor laws, employing caregivers, benefits of various housing choices, and much more.
The SCSA holds two accreditations: The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). CSAs must pass a background check, complete hours of study to pass a difficult certification exam and regularly attend courses and attain Continuing Education credits that are tracked and monitored by the SCSA.
Isn’t it reassuring to know that your CSA has that level of integrity, education and support behind the guidance they so compassionately provide? They bring joy every day and help make each day a little brighter for seniors and their families. If you would like a connection to a CSA in another part of the United States, we are happy to connect you.
