Senior Housing Focus on Fitness

One of the key components to wellbeing is fitness. Moving your body for physical activity has many physical benefits. Increased energy, better sleep, lower blood pressure, and overall happiness are just a few. Senior living communities recognize this benefit. Because of this, many now offer different ways for residents to participate in physical fitness.

Life 2 B Healthy®

A group program offered in many assisted living and memory care communities. Live 2 B Healthy® is led by certified trainers. It is usually offered 3 times a week.  The trainer assesses each participant and keeps a record of their progress. The program focuses on:

  • Increasing balance
  • Flexibility
  • Stamina
  • Mobility

Wellness Centers

SilverCrest communities offer robust wellness centers. Their fully staffed center offers a variety of classes.  TechnoGym allows for individualized strength training and personalized fitness. The centers also offer:

  • Yoga
  • Tai Chi
  • Water Fitness (select locations)
  • Balance & Posture

SilverSneakers®

SilverSneakers is a fitness and wellness program offered free to senior 65+ with eligible Medicare plans.  The programs are designed for people of all levels and abilities. The membership includes:

  • Online classes
  • Pool fitness
  • Hot tubs
  • Sauna

Rock Steady Boxing

Rock Steady Boxing Inc. helps people with Parkinsons Disease by providing a non-contact, boxing-style fitness designed to improve quality of life.  The Commons on Marice and The Lakes of Stillwater are two metro senior living communities that offer this unique program.  The benefits of participating are:

  • Increased strength
  • Increased balance
  • Overall fitness

Keep Moving
