Searching for the Right Option

My daughter Amber is getting married in about a year.    We had our first visits during COVID with masks on, of her trying on wedding dresses.   How do you pick the right option?  There is a lot of planning that comes with that day and with just the dress.

It is similar with picking the right senior living option.   Deciding which one and then going through all the steps to finalize details before “move in” day. Whew.   It’s a lot.

Here are some tips:

• Do your research beforehand, educate yourself on the options. Talk to your friends. Decide if you want an expert to work with-a wedding planner or a Senior Living Advisor in this case like Choice Connections.
• What is your budget?  For senior living, the better question is what are your assets? Long term care costs are staggering as many people want to age in place once they make that move.  Talk to your trusted financial advisor and if you don’t have one, maybe you should find one. • Location? For many this is an easy decision but for others it’s rather difficult depending on adult children and the people and health care that will be important as they age.
• What are the things that are important to you in a senior living community? Make a list and spend some time thinking about it.
• How will you make the move? Are there family/friends that will help? Do you need to hire help?

The most important thing about picking a wedding dress or a senior living option is it needs to feel good!  You need to be comfortable with it and know it’s the right choice.
