Faith Based Senior Living

Across the Twin Cities metro and greater Minnesota a large share of assisted living communities are faith based. They may be Jewish, Lutheran, Catholic, other Christian denominations, or other religions. There are many choices for those wanting that focus.

All Are Welcome

All assisted living and memory care communities’ welcome people of all religious backgrounds and faith traditions.  There are those that are owned and/or operated by specific faith-based organizations.  These organizations rooted in a particular religious tradition also welcome people of all backgrounds and traditions.  They focus on upholding the traditions of their own religion. They also offer other worship opportunities for those of a different faith.

The focus on specific traditions includes not only providing regular services within the community but also often provides spiritual activities, reading materials and music. Outings and outside engagement in church related volunteer organizations is embraced when practical. Also, these communities are often closely connected to their nearby church, synagogue, or temple and its activities.

Power of Prayer

The evidence of the mental and physical benefits of offering ways for residents to remain or become reengaged in their spiritual life continues to mount.  Music in general is powerful in engaging elders with cognitive challenges. Liturgical music can have an even deeper impact for folks living in dementia.  Hymns, from decades of singing in younger years sometimes find their way through layers of memory loss. These familiar hymns  may offer rare moments of lucidity and connection with family members.

Many senior living communities have embraced this value whether they live out one religion specifically or welcome all. You can look forward to exploring that aspect of any community with the expectation of the topic being  openly and warmly discussed.

We at Choice Connections both individually and collectively embrace our Christian traditions and values. And we offer that value in working with our clients  around their faith practices as much as they want to pursue them in finding the right community for their next home.
