April Is National Humor Month

Were you fooled on April 1st?  April Fools’ Day has been celebrated for centuries.  I was always fooled as a child growing up in my family.  My father and brother were experts at creating laughter on April 1st.

There are positive benefits of humor or laughter in your daily life. Here are just a few:

  • Laughter releases endorphines and makes you feel better.
  • It increases your immune cells and makes you more resistant to disease.
  • It increases your oxygen level, reduces the stress chemicals in your brain and thus improves mental health.

Recently I spent the week touring senior living options with a 90 year old who was in amazing health.  He would credit his health to God first and foremost I am sure.   Yet, his wonderful sense of humor I am sure has impacted his health in a positive way.

How often do you laugh?  Children laugh between 200-400 times a day.   Adults laugh 4-25 times a day. Check out our Facebook page to see if our posts can increase your laughter during this month of humor.  April Is National Humor Month
