Outdoor Ideas to Boost Your Mental Health This Summer

Music

Music has a way to calm and engage the brain. Do a little searching and you will find outdoor concerts around the Twin Cities MN History Museum has outdoor concerts on Tuesdays 5:45 -8 p.m. and Lowertown on Thursdays evenings.

Explore Our Parks

The Twin Cities and MN has a vast number of city, county and start parks. Some parks with lakes have canoes or kayaks to rent. Trails are abundant for hiking or biking. Make a plan to check out some parks or revisit favorite childhood parks. It is always fun to take a trip to the MN Arboretum or the Saint Paul Conservatory and Zoo.

Food Trucks or Pack a Picnic

Summer is a great time to eat outside.  Pick up a meal at your favority food truck or try a new one. Get out the picnic basket and invite a friend to join you. Many breweries have an outdoor space with music on the patio. Eating at a park can be enjoyable. Hearing birds singing or children laughing will make you smile. Even Subway sandwiches on a friends deck can be a nice change of pace.

Get Some Exercise In a New Way

Have you played all the minature golf  courses in the Twin Cities? Or what about hitting some golf balls or playing nine holes at a public course. Tennis or pickelball can be a good cardio workout. Or maybe yoga in a park. Boxing is a good work out and especially good for those with Parkinson’s.
